Peer Support Services

Peer-to-peer programs share several critical elements that are important throughout the program life. We empower them to facilitate their own mission statement that relates to why they do what they do. In a private way to let them know how much you care about their success and encourage them to care as much about their own as well. By communicating the values of successful self-leaders, having group peers share their vision of a leader and then encourage every group member to introspectively assess how they are matching those values daily. That discovery will help them set up the norm of maximum effort in all they do and to lead by example.

This is especially true if the younger consumer can relate to the coping mechanisms used by the older consumers. As the older consumer develops their why and adjusts in attitudes, the younger consumers will be influenced in a positive direction to the possibility of new strategies. Credibility and trust are integral to building beneficial relationships in peer support and in developing positive peer-to-peer interactions. The success of the group is when the social bonds gel and the group support each other outside of the program.
