Who is it for?

CalFresh is for people with low-income who meet federal income eligibility rules and want to add to their budget to put healthy and nutritious food on the table

CalFresh E&T is a flexible design workforce development program, voluntarily administered by counties, to assist CalFresh recipients with access to better jobs and better wages through employment and training opportunities. Programs can consist of any number of allowable E&T components, target populations, service models, and funding sources.

CalFresh food provides monthly food benefits for people with low-income (known nationally as SNAP).
Food benefits are issued via EBT card and can be used at any grocery store or farmers market that accepts EBT.
The average amount nationally for an older adult or people with disabilities is $105-$110 per month.

There is No Change or reduction to SSI/SSP amounts.

Benefits are issued monthly on an easy-to-use Electronic Benefits Transfer card (EBT) card. Recipients can buy food at any grocery store or farmers market that accepts EBT.

CalFresh Food benefits can stretch food budgets and provide more healthy choices.

The county will contact households already receiving CalFresh Food benefits in the next report.
